Module 1 & 2

Do external events MAKE us feel a certain way? You will see real-life examples from the founders of psychology that display that interpretations, and not events, determine our feelings.

The ABCDE Model is explained which is at the core of cognitive-behavioral therapy taught by Dr. Albert Ellis.

How are our interpretations and underlying beliefs formed? Professor Daniel Kahneman differentiates between System 1 & 2 thinking. Most people are not even aware that there is a constant inner conversation going on in their heads.

Why is it that the same event can lead to a different level of feelings for different people? Some people will react to a disappointing event by being concerned and yet motivated to make a change. Other people will react to the same event by being anxious or depressed.

Introducing ‘Psychological Self-Structure’ and how gaps in this structure are responsible for all our feelings and their intensity

When you have inner conflict, there is wasted energy and a battle of energy ensues in different directions. It is impossible to communicate effectively and make logical choices when you are stuck in a cycle of conflict. When there is no inner conflict, all energy is brought into being and focus.

The only way you can sit in your neutral and unbiased center is by turning the mind inwards. You move to ‘expansive awareness’ from ‘constricted awareness’ which blocks or colors facts. “Observation Meditation” allows you to connect to this source within you.

For this Observation Meditation, you will set a timer for 5-10 minutes. Eventually, you can apply this observation meditation with your eyes open and in any place. At its core, this is not meditation or even a method. You applying observation to external and internal processes without identification and bias, which will become more natural as time goes on. We will practice this life-changing method in this session.
